Swarm Removal in Phoenix

Phoenix Bee Removal

Typical Swarm Removal in Phoenix, AZ

Bees tend to form very large swarms in Phoenix even though they are in the middle of a big city. A swam is a way that bees reproduce.  The new queen takes some of her workers (all filled with honey) and leaves the hive and they all attach themselves to each other and usually land in a tree or tall bush.  It will look like a football to basketball size of bees.

We always recommend getting your swarms removed because they are looking for a place to call “home”.  If your property has water and flowers nearby they may decide to move in.  We will get calls from people who have had a swarm that later moved into their brick wall or their house and that job is much more labor intensive and more expensive for the home owner because it involves cutting into the house or wall.

Hives are when the swarm has decided this is where they want to live.  They will quickly start building comb and gathering honey.  The queen will start laying eggs.  At this point the bees are much more aggressive.  When we remove the bees we also take great care to remove all the comb.  Many pest control “professionals” will spray the bees and kill them but leave behind all the comb.  This is a calling card to a new swarm.  The new swarm will smell the comb be glad to move in because much of the comb is already built for them.

All natural, organic bee removal methods

Derek Abello the beekeeper

We remove all hives using no chemicals or sprays.  We take great care to keep every bee alive and they are relocated to an apiary in Maricopa County.  From time to time for an aggressive hive Derek will use his smoker and he burns organic mesquite wood chips from the trees that grow at the apiary.  The smoke causes the bees to think that there is a fire and they stop attacking the beekeeper and fly into the hive to protect the queen and eat up the honey in hopes of saving it.
